Ultrasound/Vascular

Lake Pointe Medical Center has two ultrasound suites and one vascular unit. Ultrasound imaging is an important diagnostic tool used in monitoring pregnancy and identifying abnormalities in the breast, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, kidneys, uterus, ovaries, testes, and thyroids.

Breast core biopsy is a non-surgical procedure. The radiologist can very accurately locate a suspicious lesion, then, through use of a biopsy needle, take tiny sections of tissue from examination and diagnosis, without surgery. This technique minimizes pain and leaves no scarring.

An ultrasound consists of high frequency sound waves, which are electronically generated and have no known harmful effects on humans at the levels used for diagnosis.
