Our Board Certified surgeons perform two specialized procedures, the Silastic Ringed Vertical Gastroplasty and Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding.
Silastic Ringed Vertical Gastroplasty
Silastic Ringed Vertical Gastroplasty is a surgical procedure designed to permanently reduce the amount of food the stomach will hold. During the surgery, a small pouch approximately two ounces in size is sectioned off by four rows of surgical staples. To secure the pouch, a Silastic ring is placed at the bottom (opening) of the pouch to reinforce it and is designed to prevent the opening from stretching. This restriction is designed to cause you to eat small amounts of food, feel full quickly and stay full longer.
