ROWLETT, TX (April 7, 2011) - Lake Pointe Health Network was named the #8 Healthiest Employers in North Texas among large companies by the Dallas Business Journal.
The Healthiest Employers program, powered by Indianapolis-based Healthiest Employers LLC, recognizes organizations that are committed to creating a healthy workplace. The award utilizes an online assessment tool and measures wellness programming in six key categories:
-
Culture and leadership commitment
-
Foundational components
-
Strategic planning
-
Communication and marketing
-
Programming and interventions
-
Reporting and analysis
The categories, proprietary scoring and benchmarking were formed with the help of academic, medical, wellness and business communities. Those professionals include PhDs, MDs, CEOs and human resources directors from across the United States.
The assessment is comprised of 75 scored questions with a point value ranging from .25 points to 3 points per answer. Questions are arranged in Yes-No-I don’t know, multiple choice and select-all-that-apply formats. A company is then automatically ranked based on its individual answers, using the Healthiest Employer benchmark scores generated through a proprietary system.
“As a health care provider, our philosophy is to not only provide high quality care, but be an employer that supports good health for its employees,” states David Olmstead, chief human resources officer for Lake Pointe Health Network. “We have seen our employees take an active interest in the HealthyatTenet program – currently 67% of employees participate in the program.”
One reason Lake Pointe Health Network is a healthiest employer – not only do employees earn points by participating in wellness events at the hospital, but they have taken their wellness efforts to the community, tying their activities to local fundraising events that support a health-related cause.
