Lake Pointe Medical Center’s orthopedic surgeons are on call to provide care for broken bones.
A closed reduction does not require the patient to have an incision to reduce the fractured bone. A cast or splint is usually applied until healed. A more severely displaced or open fracture may require surgery to reduce the fracture. The surgeon may need to insert plates, screws, or wire to keep the fracture in place in order to facilitate healing.
Knee and hip joint replacements are the most commonly performed on people with severe arthritis. The implants are made with different activity levels in mind for the individual patient. Joint replacement is a viable and durable option for a patient whose quality of life is severely affected due to pain and restricted activity.
Arthroscopy is a procedure performed most frequently on the knee or shoulder joint, but can also include ankles, wrists, and hips. The procedure is used to diagnose suspected ligament tears, damaged meniscus cartilage, bone fragments, joint pain due to injury or to determine the need for joint surgery. Many of these conditions can be repaired through the arthroscope reducing the need for larger incisions and longer recovery time.
