Cardiac Rehabilitation

The primary goal of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is to assist patients in developing a healthy lifestyle plan that allows them to manage their disease while enjoying a greater quality of life.

Cardiac Rehabilitation at Lake Pointe Medical Center offers outpatient rehabilitation for patients who have had a heart attack within the last year, had open heart surgery (bypass or valve repair/replacement) or received a cardiac stent within the last six months, have undergone a transplant within the last 12 months or suffer from stable angina. Cardiac rehabilitation is a comprehensive, medically supervised 12-week program designed to educate and affect lifestyle changes in the areas of exercise, nutrition, stress management, and smoking cessation. The program consists of three, one- hour sessions  per week for six to twelve weeks. Each exercise session is monitored and supervised to ensure that each participant is able to exercise safely. Monitored physical activity helps to improve the efficiency of the heart and lungs, increases strength and stamina, and boosts confidence to resume daily activities.

Education is another component of the program and is designed to teach each participant the principles of safe exercise so that they can continue their exercise upon successful completion of the program.  We also assist patients in better understanding their heart condition and provides information and techniques to help reduce the risk of future heart problems.

Cardiac Rehabilitation is offered at The Lake Pointe Fitness and Rehabilitation Center located in the the Scenic Square Shopping Center at 9400 Lakeview Parkway, Suite 124, Rowlett, TX  75088.  Please call 972-412-3380 X2228 or X2229, Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 4:30PM, to schedule an appointment.
