The Procedure

Our Board Certified surgeons perform two specialized procedures, the Silastic Ringed Vertical Gastroplasty and Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding

Silastic Ringed Vertical Gastroplasty

Silastic Ringed Vertical Gastroplasty is a surgical procedure designed to permanently reduce the amount of food the stomach will hold. During the surgery, a small pouch approximately two ounces in size is sectioned off by four rows of surgical staples. To secure the pouch, a Silastic ring is placed at the bottom (opening) of the pouch to reinforce it and is designed to prevent the opening from stretching. This restriction is designed to cause you to eat small amounts of food, feel full quickly and stay full longer.

Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding

This technique is minimally invasive and involves placing a band around the upper portion of the stomach.  The band creates a small stomach pouch that serves to restrict food intake and make one feel full faster.  The small stomach pouch slowly releases food to the lower portion of the stomach through the opening created by the band.  The diameter of the band is adjustable to each individuals needs and can be changed over time based on weight loss.

Each of these procedures has its own benefits and drawbacks that will be covered in detail at our free seminars.  To view our seminar schedule and sign up to attend a seminar please click here.
