(January 26, 2011) - Lake Pointe Sleep Center in Rowlett, a part of the Lake Pointe Health Network,
recently received program accreditation from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM).
“The American Academy of Sleep Medicine congratulates Lake Pointe Sleep Center on fulfilling the high standards required for receiving accreditation as a sleep disorders center,” said Dr. Patrick Strollo, AASM president. “The center is a significant resource to the local medical community and will provide academic and scientific value in addition to the highest quality care for patients suffering from sleep disorders.”
To receive a five-year accreditation, a sleep center must meet or exceed all standards for professional health care as designated by the AASM. The accreditation process involves detailed inspection of a center’s facility and staff, including an evaluation of testing procedures, patient contacts, and physician training. Additionally, the facility’s goals must be clearly stated and include plans for positively affecting the quality of medical care in the community it serves.
The American Academy of Sleep Medicine currently accredits more than 2,200 sleep medicine centers and laboratories across the country.
“AASM accreditation is an outstanding achievement for the Lake Pointe Sleep Center and our community as a whole,” states Dr. Jessela D. Tan, medical director of the Lake Pointe Sleep Center. “It signifies our commitment to providing quality care to our community and is a testament to the dedication of our staff at the Lake Pointe Sleep Center.”
About 60 million Americans – adults and children – suffer from poor sleep.
“At the Lake Pointe Sleep Center, our mission is to provide comprehensive, high-quality care and advanced diagnostic testing,” states Bobbie Walker, director of the Lake Pointe Sleep Center. “We provide day and nighttime testing for patients two years of age and older in a safe and comfortable environment. We look forward to the opportunity to provide your whole family a good night’s sleep.”
