Gynecology
Gynecology is the branch of medicine dealing with the health of the female reproductive organs. The specialty involves infertility evaluations, surgical therapies and evaluation of pelvic pain and its treatment.
Mammography
Lake Pointe Medical Center has two Mammography Suites, we are certified by the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the Food & Drug Administration (FDA).
It is very important that a woman at the age of 40 has yearly mammogram screenings.
There are two types of mammograms:
- Screening - no symptoms/or problems.
- Diagnostic - experiencing problems such as lumps, thickening, swelling, and nipple discharge.
Other procedures performed are:
- Needle Localization's
- Stereotactic
Breast Cancer
The most common cancer afflicting women is breast cancer. Every three minutes a woman learns she has breast cancer. The best treatment for detecting breast cancer is early diagnosis. This can be accomplished by conducting self-breast examinations. If a lump is detected, a mammogram is then scheduled and if necessary, a biopsy is performed to determine if the cells are cancerous. Four out of five breast lumps are benign. However, if the lump is cancerous, several options are available. Among the options are surgery. At Lake Pointe Medical Center, the general surgeons perform breast conserving surgery, modified radical mastectomies, and simple or total mastectomy. These procedures combined with Adjuvant Therapy have proven to be very successful.
Labor and Delivery/ Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN)
Lake Pointe Medical Center features family centered care and offers the following:
- 3 labor/delivery rooms
- 2 traditional labor rooms
- 2 delivery rooms for cesarean births
- 7 bed nursery (level 1)
- 10 postpartum gynecology beds
- Advance fetal monitoring
- Secured unit for you and your baby’s safety
Nearly 600 babies a year are born at Lake Pointe Medical Center.
We offer the birthing partner the option of rooming in with the mother and baby. As well, you and your partner will be treated to a celebration meal as well as a new baby care package.
Open visitation is available from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on the Maternity floor. Visitation in Labor and Delivery is 24 hours a day.
Our staffed physicians offer 24-hour availability of anesthesia services.
All parents-to-be are invited to tour our facility and visit with our nursing staff who will be happy to answer any questions you might have. Our pre-registration program allows for immediate admittance on the day of delivery and provides our staff with primary access to vital information on both mother and child.
Our exceptional nursing staff offers 24-hour nurse assistance during and after pregnancy. Lake Pointe provides each family with private instruction on caring for your new baby. Parents are encouraged to call our nursing staff with any questions or concerns.
