The celebration will take place at the hospital on Saturday, July 21st from 10:00AM to 4:00PM. Lake Pointe Medical Center has been serving the residents of Rockwall, Rowlett, Royse City and surrounding communities since 1987. Just as our areas continue to grow, so does the Hospital, adding services, physicians and infrastructure. Today, Lake Pointe is a 112-bed acute care hospital providing a wide-spectrum of medical services. Over $60 million in capital has been invested in the facility since 2001, including an emergency room expansion with Fast Track services, expansion to eight surgery suites, addition of a cardiac catheterization lab, a new 14-bed intensive care unit (ICU), the addition of two 64-slice CT scanners, fully digital imaging, the addition of a Level II Neonatal Nursery, refurbishment of all patient rooms throughout the hospital and the addition of both the Lake Pointe Imaging Center and Lake Pointe Sleep Lab in Rockwall.
In August of this year, we will open Lake Pointe Medical Partners – Family Practice, in a one-story medical office building located at 1101 West Interstate 30 in Royse City. In addition to Family Practitioners, the building will eventually contain various specialists. In September, we will open Lake Pointe Medical Arts in Rowlett at Chiesa Road and Lakeview Parkway, a two-story, 50,000 square foot medical office building that will house a four-bed sleep lab, wound care center, cancer treatment center and additional medical office space to accommodate another Lake Pointe Medical Partners – Family Practice office and other physicians.
Services inside the hospital are expanding as well. With the June, 2007 addition of the new 14-bed ICU, the Hospital has continued the development of higher acuity services at Lake Pointe. We have already begun performing some of these services, including vascular interventions in the cath lab, thoracic surgery and electrophysiology. The new neonatology group continues to expand the capabilities of our Level II Neonatal Nursery, providing care to babies delivered as early as 28 weeks. The hospital recently added a pediatric hospitalist to its medical staff, who, coupled with the neonatologists, has broadened our ability to provide quality care specific to the needs of patients ages zero to seventeen.
