Lake Pointe Medical Center makes donation to the Women in Need Shelter of Greenville in name of Lara Staggs to celebrate National Nurses Week and National Hospital and Healthcare Week

    Rowlett, TX – May 8, 2007 – During National Nurses Week and National Hospital & Healthcare Week, May 6-12, Lake Pointe Medical Center and the Tenet Healthcare Foundation are honoring Lara Staggs, a staff nurse, with a $500 donation to the Women in Need Shelter of Greenville, TX. 

    “Choosing just one person to be honored from among our employees wasn’t an easy task,” said Carolyn Jackson, CEO. “However, Lara’s leadership and service to Lake Pointe Medical Center and its patients, along with her dedication to the profession of nursing, made her stand out amongst her peers. Lara is very deserving of this recognition and continues to be an integral part of our success at Lake Pointe Medical Center.” 

    Lara Staggs has served as a staff nurse and relief charge nurse at Lake Pointe Medical Center since May of 2003. “I am a single mom,” said Lara. “I chose the Women in Need Shelter because I want to assist other single moms and their children with the resources necessary to take the next step forward in their lives.” 

    As part of the celebration of National Nurses Week and National Hospital and Healthcare Week, the Tenet Healthcare Foundation will contribute more than $30,000 on behalf of outstanding employees who are recognized at Tenet hospitals across the country. This week is a time to say “thank you” to all of the health care professionals who have dedicated their lives to providing high quality patient care.
