In 2007 we opened many new service lines, completed several construction projects and opened multiple satellite locations. We began doing thoracic and vascular surgery as well as vascular interventions in the cath lab. We also ramped up our spine surgery program. We began a pediatric hospitalist program and enhanced our nursery capabilities so we can now care for Level II babies as young as 28 weeks gestational age.
On the construction front we completed our beautiful and spacious 14 bed ICU. We also gave our 3rd floor a facelift and made all of the rooms private. We renovated the last of the rooms on the 2nd floor as well and expanded our post partum area. We built a Seattle’s Best coffee kiosk in our main lobby and totally renovated our cafeteria. We also built a concierge desk in our main lobby to provide a convenient location for Curbside Valet, our recently added valet parking and concierge service.
Off-site we completed the construction of Lake Pointe Wound Care Center in the Lake Pointe Medical Arts building at Lakeview Parkway and Chiesa in Rowlett. This clinic includes hyperbaric chambers and will allow us to care for people with chronic, non-healing wounds. We also opened a second Lake Pointe Sleep Lab in the same building (there is already one located in Rockwall).
Early this year we opened our community’s first urgent care center with Lake Pointe Urgent Care Center, which is located at 1005 West Ralph Hall Parkway in Rockwall. This convenient location boasts 7 treatment rooms and access to all the imaging services that we have to offer at the Lake Pointe Imaging Center, which is situated a few feet from the Urgent Care Center. This will be a great addition to the health care offerings in Rockwall.
In the fall we earned Nurse-Friendly designation by the Texas Nurse Association. We are especially proud of this achievement as less than 50 of the 550 plus hospitals in Texas hold this distinction. Facilities who achieve this designation must demonstrate qualities identified by nurses and research as important to the highest quality of patient care, nursing practice, professional development, and nurse job satisfaction.
Our efforts through 2007 show that we have put all the pieces in place to launch into a terrific 2008. We have a great work environment for our staff and physicians, and we also have many new services that are easily available to take care of your healthcare needs All Right Here.
Happy New Year and thank you for your continued support of Lake Pointe Health Network.
Carolyn Jackson Chief Executive Officer Lake Pointe Health Network
